    Ernest Abbott

Ernest was born in Rhyl on the 7th September 1896. He lived with his father Thomas and mother Elizabeth at 19 Bedford Street. He had two sisters, L and Ann and a brother Thomas. He later lived at 17 Kinmel Street. He died in June 1970.

   Thomas Abbott

 Thomas was born in Rhyl on the 9th May 1890. He was the brother of Ernest. He served as Sapper 272007 Royal Engineers. He originally enlisted into the Welsh Regiment as Private 3244.

  He emigrated to Canada where he lived with his wife, Alma and daughter Dorothy at 315Victoria Avenue, Windsor, Ontario. He was a signwriter. he died at Grace Hospital, Windsor , Ontario  on the 28th November 1934.

 

  Robert Alcock

  Robert was born in Rhyl on the 31st December 1892. He lived with his parents Robert and Margaret at 7 Wood Road. His brother Thomas was killed in action on the 24th May 1918. Robert served with the Denbighshire Hussars Yeomanry as Lance Corporal 215488. He served throughout the war from the 17th September 1914 to the 22nd January 1919. He died in Merthyr Tydfil in 1968.

 

   Arthur Berwyn Amos

Arthur was born in Rhyl in January 1887. He lived with his parents, Samuel and Annie at 7 Belle Vue Terrace. He later emigrated to Brazil, returning in 1947. He died in Surbiton, Surrey on the 26th October 1958

 

   Bertram Leslie Andrews

Bertram was born in Llandudno on the 17th June 1897. He lived with his parents, William and Hannah at "Ivanhoe", 9 Sandringham Avenue, Rhyl. He had a brother Reginald who also served in the Great War. Bertram was a solicitor's office boy. He married Beatrice May Sucker in 1922. He died in Ashton, Lancashire in 1970. He served as Corporal 77002 in the Royal Army Medical Corps.

   Charles Armstrong

Charles was  born in Liverpool on the 13th October 1893. He lived with his parents Charles and Annie at 8 Warren Road, Rhyl. He was an electrician. He died in 1972.

 

   Arthur Alexander Arnold

Arthur was born in London in 1887 He lived with his parents, Robert and Mary at Chester House, Queen Street, Rhyl. He had three sisters and a brother Frederick who was killed in action on the 27th March 1918.

 

     Arthur Astle

Arthur was born in Rhyl in 1898. He lived with his parents, William and Phyllis at 21 Aquarium Street. He had a brother Leonard and three sisters, Margaret, Phyllis and Bertha. He married Jane Ellen Wynne in 1921 and they lived at 41 River Street.

 

    Leonard Astle

 Leonard was born in Rhyl on the 4th April 1999. He was the brother of Arthur. He worked as a clerk for the London And North Western Railway. He enlisted into the Royal Welsh Fusiliers as Private 452111 on the 4th May 1917. he suffered gun shot wounds to his back and right arm on the 2nd September 1918. He was later transferred to the Army Service Corps, Clerical Section. He died in June 1976

 

   George Edwin Bailey

 George was born in Boningae, Shropshire in 1897. He lived with his parents, George and Alice at 12 Butterton Road, Rhyl. He had a brother John. He later moved to "Fairfield", 31 East Parade. He was a clerk for the London And North Western Railway. He enlisted into the Royal Engineers, Railway Operating Division, as Sapper 210435. He enlisted in Rhyl on the 25th November 1916. He died in December 1977.

 

   Jack Reginald Bailey

Jack was born in 1895. He lived with his grandparents, Joseph and Jane Blythin at 18 Ernest Street Rhyl.

 

   James Baillie

James was born in Overtown, Lanarkshire in 1883. He lived at 31 Church Street, Rhyl where he was a golf greenkeeper.

 

  Llewelyn Bamber

Llewelyn was born in Rhuddlan in 1884. He lived with his parents, George and Sarah at Dingle Terrace. He was a farm labourer. He had a brother Richard and two sisters, Alice and Myra. He later married Catherine and they lived at 15 Morfa Bach, Vale Road, Rhyl. He died on 3rd March 1947

 

  Richard Vernon Bamber

Richard was born in 1884. He enlisted into the 5th Royal Welsh Fusiliers as Private 540. He married Anne Jane Roberts in 1913. He died in 1977.

 

   George Bateman

George was born in Manchester in 1878. By 1911 he was living at 41 West Kinmel Street, Rhyl. He owned a fish and chip supper bar. He had a wife, mary and son Richard. He died in 1953.

 

   Francis Alfred Beddington

Francis was born in Rhyl on the 21st September 1901. He lived at 16 Edward Henry Street with his parents, William and Alice. He had two sisters, Dorothy and Marjory. He married Winifred Morris in 1922. He died in Torbay, Devon in 1922.

 

   Alexander Blackstock

Alexander was born in Bodfari in 1872. By 1911 he was living at Felin Wynt, St Asaph, with his wife Elizabeth and their children, Florence and Edwin. He was a roadman for the District Council.

 

   Alfred Carrington

Alfred was born in Birmingham in 1881. By 1911 he was living at 8 Vale Road, Rhyl. He was a driver in the Army Service Corps.

 

  Johnson Simpson Chadwick

Johnson ws born in Rhyl in 1883. He lived at 52 Millbank with his parents, Robert and Jane and his brothers, Harry and Alfred.. He married Anne in 1908 and they lived at 18a Church Street. They had two children Doris and Lilian. He enlisted into the Army Service Corps  on the 15th December 1915 as Private 152121. He was a fitter in the motor transport section. They later moved to 10 Terrace Avenue. He died on the 10th February 1954.

 

   Robert Thomas Conway

Robert was born in 1888. He married Anne Jane at Clwyd Street Chapel in 1910. They lived at Elwy Villa, Grange Road with their children John and Jane.He was a motor driver, mechanic and oil merchant. He enlisted into the Army Service Corps on the 11th December 1915. He became a driver in the Motor Transport Section as Private M/318145

    

     Arthur Ellis Craighill

Arthur was born in Liverpool on the 24th June 1887. He lived with his parents Joseph and Ada at 7 Vale Road, Rhyl. He had two brothers, Herbert and Harold who also served. He was an able seaman in the Royal Navy, based at Chatham. He married Emily Pepper in 1919. He died in March 1976.

 

   Harold Stanley Craighill

harry was born on the 6th December 1896. He was the brother of Arthur and Herbert. He served in the Army Service Corps as Private DM2/151421. He died in December 1977.

 

   Herbert Joseph Lewis Craighill

Herbert was born in 1893. He was the brother of Arthur and Harold. He ws a clothier's apprentice. He enlisted into the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on the 27th March 1917 as Private 61334. He was later transferred to the Royal Engineers Railway Troops Depot as Private 355238. He died in September 1967.

 

   William Crosby.

William was born in Rhyl in 1881. He lived at 2 Crescent Place. He was a farm labourer.

 

   William Stanley Cunliffe

William was born in Burslem, Staffordshire in 1900. He lived with his parents, Thomas and Maud at Grosvenor House, 6 Butterton Road, Rhyl. He had a sister Ethel.

 

   William Henry Danks

William was born in Dudley, Worcestershire in 1877. He lived at 35 West Kinmel Street, Rhyl. He married Francis in 1910 and they had a daughter Dorothy Laura.
